ENERGY & WATER MANAGEMENT

Our San Diego corporate office leads the way, generating significant solar electricity and contributing to the community grid. Key efforts include transitioning to LED lighting, installing electric vehicle charging stations, and promoting eco-friendly practices across our franchises. Regularly monitoring energy usage at our locations helps us improve efficiency and embody our commitment to sustainable resource management.

PACKAGING WASTE

FOOD & PACKAGING WASTE MANAGEMENT

Our efforts focus on reducing food waste through precise preparation and tracking, alongside choosing sustainable materials. By 2030, we aim to cut virgin plastic in packaging by 20%. Currently, 85% of our fiber packaging comes from recycled or sustainable sources. We're also transitioning to 100% PFAs-free packaging across our system. Our approach extends to repurposing surplus food and waste oil, demonstrating our commitment to converting waste into valuable resources, while ensuring compliance with evolving environmental regulations.

We employ the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, bolstered by our Chief Information Security Officer and Chief Technology Officer, who oversee network and software security and regularly update our Audit Committee and Board of Directors. Our Information Security Policy includes regular vulnerability assessments and staff training, ensuring compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). We prioritize safeguarding personal data, particularly payment information, and our cyber breach response plan emphasizes our commitment to data security and customer privacy.

We're enhancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEI&B) with RISEQUITY’s help. Our action plan includes specialized training for People Managers, promoting inclusivity at cultural events, and comprehensive demographic analysis. We're focused on fostering an inclusive culture, diversifying our workforce, and engaging with our community, embedding DEI&B into every aspect of our organization.

FOOD QUALITY, SOURCING & TRANSPARENCY

We maintain a comprehensive focus on food safety, from farm to fork, implementing stringent supplier standards and a meticulous approval process. With approximately 84% of our eggs sourced from cage-free environments and ongoing efforts towards improved animal welfare in our pork supply, we ensure ethical sourcing and strict adherence to Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) standards. Our proactive approach has led to all restaurants undergoing regular food safety inspections, contributing to no reported food recalls or foodborne illness outbreaks in the past year.

Our governance structure integrates Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, led by the board of directors and the N&G Committee. The Audit Committee reviews ESG disclosures, while the CLR Officer and ESG Steering Committee shape our strategy. This multidisciplinary team regularly advises the board, guiding our sustainable practices.

Our 'Integrity Playbook' underlines ethical conduct, empowering employees to report violations and ensuring strict adherence to ethical standards. We offer an ethics helpline for anonymous reporting, with a commitment to resolving issues promptly. Our Risk Committee manages key ESG areas, and the Business Continuity and Crisis Response Teams prepare for diverse operational challenges. Prioritizing employee safety and well-being, we strive for consistency, even in unforeseen events. BOARD DIVERSITY & INDEPENDENCE

We prioritize independence in our board's composition, ensuring unbiased decision-making. Currently, out of our ten directors, nine serve independently, with the board chair also being an independent member.
