Jack in the Box Inc. has relatively minimal market share within its packaging suppliers’ capacity. We will always strive to constantly improve and further the sustainability of the products that we procure and sell to our customers; however, we must balance the progression of sustainability with the objective of managing our business in a fiscally responsible manner.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, we are committed to working towards increasing the sustainability of our packaging. By 2030, we, in conjunction with the capabilities of our suppliers, aim to:

  • Reduce the amount of virgin plastic in our packaging up to 20% below 2020 levels;
  • Strive to have the majority of fiber packaging material to be produced from recycled or originate from certified sustainable sources; and
  • Expand our model of offering single-use plastics such as straws and bags upon request only, as is current practice in select stores.
  • As of June 2022, approximately 24.5% of our total food packaging spend went towards the purchase of compostable materials.

    Following the depletion of all existing inventory, our packaging suite will be 100% PFAs-free systemwide by early 2023.

    We look forward to sharing future updates on our sustainable packaging efforts as they are available.
